Privacy Policy
Effective date: to be announced, 2026
3Notes (“the app”) is an iPad note-taking app made by an individual developer. The app has no sign-up, sign-in or server, and the developer cannot receive or see your recordings or notes. This policy explains the information the app handles, and the only ways information leaves your device — when you choose them yourself.
This is a translation of the Korean privacy policy (개인정보처리방침). If the two differ, the Korean version applies.
1. Information the developer collects
None. The app has no ads, analytics, crash reporting or user tracking, and the developer runs no server.
2. Information stored on your device
- Recordings, transcripts, notes, suggestion cards, keywords and app settings.
- This information is stored only on your iPad. The app does not sync it to other devices or to any server.
- It is deleted when you delete the app. It may be included in iPad backups you turn on (such as iCloud Backup), under Apple’s policies.
3. Permissions the app asks for
- Microphone: to record and transcribe lectures.
- Speech recognition: to transcribe with Apple’s speech recognition built into the iPad.
4. When information leaves your device
With the default settings, your recordings and notes never leave the device. The following happens only if you choose it in Settings.
| Option | What is sent | Sent to |
|---|---|---|
| Transcribe with Gemini | Recorded audio (live recording or an imported recording) | Google (using your own Gemini API key) |
| Suggestions with Gemini | Transcript sentences | Google (using your own Gemini API key) |
| Suggestions with Shortcuts | Transcript sentences | The model chosen by the shortcut you installed (for example, Apple Private Cloud Compute) |
Information sent this way is handled under the recipient’s policies: Google’s under the Gemini API Terms and the Google Privacy Policy, Apple’s under the Apple Privacy Policy. The developer receives none of it.
Your Gemini API key is stored only in this iPad’s keychain (“this device only”) and is not carried to other devices by iCloud Keychain or backups.
5. Downloads
Some speech recognition models and translation language data are downloaded from the internet the first time you use them. Your recordings and notes are not sent when this happens.
6. Children’s information
The app collects no personal information from anyone, so it collects none from children under 14 either.
7. Changes to this policy
If the information the app handles changes, this page will be updated with a new effective date. If a new way for information to leave the device is added, the app will tell you as well.
